With over 13 years of experience as a school counselor in Chicago Public Schools and a PhD in Community Psychology, Dr. Martin has devoted her career to addressing the intersecting forms of marginalization that Black and brown students face.

Her research focuses on collective imagination and freedom dreaming as tools for systemic transformation. Dr. Martin works with educators, policymakers, and organizations to create equitable learning environments that center on the well-being and liberation of marginalized communities. Her innovative approach challenges outdated systems, empowering communities to envision and build new models for education that foster healing, equity, and resilience.

A passionate storyteller and artist, Dr. Martin integrates creativity into her work, viewing art and imagination as essential to social change. She is a sought-after speaker, consultant, and researcher, collaborating with institutions nationwide to bring about transformative change.

When she’s not conducting research or facilitating workshops, Dr. Martin is committed to inspiring others through her writing, public speaking, and creative projects. Her ultimate mission is to empower individuals and communities to dream beyond limitations and create a more just, equitable future.

"To transform our schools, we must embrace the power of dreaming. By envisioning futures where marginalized identities are not just included but celebrated, we can build educational systems that inspire hope, foster joy, and pave the way for lasting, equitable change."
